If you have a slow leak in your tire or if you experience a blowout, you may be able to have the tire repaired. However, your tire repair specialist may advise that a repair may not be possible based on the condition of your tires. Here are some of the reasons you may need to buy new tires rather than having your old ones repaired.

Tread is worn down --

One of the ways you can tell when it is time to buy new tires is if the tread on your old ones are worn down. Tread that is too worn is a safety risk, and if a tire repair technician notices excessive wear, he or she may determine not to do the repair and suggest a new tire instead. Want to know how to preserve the tread on your tires? Have them rotated at regular intervals.

Multiple repairs --

You may be able to have a tire fixed once or twice, but eventually, there comes a point where it is not safe to continue doing repairs. If you have a tire that already has had several repair jobs, you might not be able to get it fixed again and may have to buy new tires.

While you can replace just the tire that is getting fixed, it is generally advisable to buy at least one other new tire to match (either two new ones in the front, or two new ones in the back). If you should have one new tire with three old ones, it can throw off the way your car drives and increase tread wear for all your tires
