Oil changes are an important part of the vehicle maintenance that is needed to keep your car running smooth and healthy. Unfortunately, a lot of people have the “out of sight, out of mind” mentality when it comes to oil changes. Added to that is the fact that many people don’t budget their time or money for regular oil changes so they often fall by the wayside.

Oil serves to lubricate the engine so the metal components work together quietly and smoothly as well as to absorb the heat that is created from the moving parts. Over time, however, the oil becomes less effective as it starts to break down and accumulate dirt and sludge. It’s the time for an oil change! If you skip it, the damage to the engine will cost you a lot more money in the long run. Cars that have had regular maintenance performed as intended have a much longer life than those that don't.

Be sure to ask your mechanic how long does it take for an oil change. And, don’t forget to ask about the oil change coupons offered by the car shop.

Some of us can remember the days before tire plugs and a patch was the most common repair for a punctured tire.  But times have changed and patches are not the only fix for flat tires. For those lucky few whose tire repairs required a patch or plug rather than a complete tire replacement, you might be wondering "How long does a patch last in a tire?"

First, it's important to understand whether your tire needs a patch, plug, or to be replaced completely.

A tire plug is a sticky, expandable substance that gets stuffed in a hole in the tire from the outside and is wedged in until the air stops leaking out. The plug should easily stay intact well enough to re-inflate the tire and get safely to a repair shop.

In order for your vehicle to keep running as intended, all of its components need to work in harmony. Taking the time to have a car inspected and maintained is the best way to ensure that everything is working as it should. This inspection should include the exhaust system.

How Long Does a Muffler Last For Your Vehicle?

You may be asking, “How long does a muffler last?” As you may expect, the lifespan of a muffler varies due to the vehicle model and the overall use of the vehicle. And of course, it makes sense that the more miles that are driven, the more wear and tear on the undercarriage of the vehicle. Typically, a car muffler will last 40,000 to 80,000 miles or around two to four years of average driving conditions. However, for vehicles driven in wet climates, such as along the coastline with salty air or in areas that get a lot of snow with salt on the roads, will see an even shorter muffler lifespan.

Know these signs of muffler issues; loud noise, bad smells, low mileage. Have an auto repair expert inspect the exhaust system regularly so that you don’t have to ask how long does a muffler last
